In honour of National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), we would like to thank our volunteers for their continued support of the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton.
While the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is closed to in-person programming due to it being selected as the location for Milton's COVID-19 vaccination clinic, we have continued to connect with the community and volunteers virtually. For instance, since the start of the pandemic, we appreciated continued connection with one another during weekly volunteer calls. Even though we could not see each other in person, this online format allowed us keep in touch with one another. Since March 2020, this volunteer program has shared over 54 calls amongst friends including some trivia days, involvement in the Milton’s Culture Plan, recipe sharing and just reaching out to support one another during these challenging times.
The Centre is continuing to offer a range of virtual programming and performances and we're looking forward to when it’s safe to connect with our complement of volunteers in-person again. The Centre will be celebrating a big milestone in 2021 – a decade of being open. It’s hard to believe it, as the time has flown by so quickly. Over the past 10 years, volunteers have given over 47,000 hours of their time to support the Centre. That equates to more than five years of volunteer time.
When we reopen, we look forward to many more decades of supporting and connecting the Milton community to arts and culture, and providing meaningful volunteer opportunities.
